Antoine M. Ferneini, MD, FACS Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Medicine

Dr. Ferneini specializes in vascular and endovascular surgery, as well as wound care, at the Connecticut Vascular Center



Among numerous awards, Dr. Ferneini recently received a 2016 Edward H. Storer, MD Award for excellence in surgical teaching by the Yale graduating chief residents.

    NORTH HAVEN, CT, October 10, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Antoine M. Ferneini, MD, FACS has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Ferneini has cared for patients since 2000 at the Connecticut Vascular Center, and has served as section chief of vascular surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael campus since 2011. He has been published in such journals as the Annals of Vascular Surgery on repair procedures and advanced surgical techniques. Dr. Ferneini is the recipient of numerous awards for both surgical practice and excellence in teaching.

Before becoming a doctor, Dr. Ferneini studied biology with the American University of Beirut and achieved the requirements for a Master's degree in microbiology. He attended the University of Massachusetts, where he earned an MD in 1987. Dr. Ferneini served his residency with the Hospital of St. Raphael. In 1992, he became executive chief resident with St. Raphael and went on to do his fellowships in vascular surgery at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal General and the Sir Mortimer B. Davis Hospital with McGill University.

During his official training, Dr. Ferneini accrued honors in surgery, family medicine, pathology, transplantation, pediatric clerkship, immunology, and other vital courses. He returned to St. Raphael and Yale New Haven in the '90s, and has served in numerous review committees and teaching positions in the years since. Notably, he served as a medical director for the Wound Care Center of New Haven County from 1997 to 1999, and director of an accredited vascular laboratory from 1995 to 2000.

Among numerous awards, Dr. Ferneini recently received a 2016 Edward H. Storer, MD Award for excellence in surgical teaching by the Yale graduating chief residents. He is a two-year recipient of the "Outstanding Teaching in the Operating Room and Beyond" Attending of the Year Award from the Hospital of St. Raphael. In the '80s, Dr. Ferneini was honored for his research work with a 1979 French Bacalaureate and a 1988 Award for Best Paper on Cancer by the American College of Surgeons Meeting in the Connecticut chapter. He is a member of the Society of Vascular Surgery, the New England Society of Vascular Surgeons, the Connecticut Society of American Board of Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the International Society of Endovascular Surgery, the Connecticut Medical Society, and the New Haven County Medical Society.

Today, Dr. Ferneini's interests include clinical trials to help achieve better minimally invasive vascular techniques to benefit patients.
