Venture capitalist, co-founder, and general partner of RRE Ventures since 1994 and president of J.D. Robinson Inc. in New York City, Mr. Robinson has led a broad and successful career. After the pursuit of an undergraduate degree at Georgia Institute of Technology, two years in the US Navy Supply Corps, and a Master of Business Administration at Harvard University, (1961) he began working for Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York. He eventually became staff assistant to the Chairman of the Board, and President in 1966.

Following his successful career at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company, Mr. Robinson took on positions with some of the best in the business, such as White, Weld & Company as general partner; American Express Company, where he served as executive vice president, President in 1975 and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 1977. During his time with American Express, he also served as Chairman and CEO of American Express International Banking Corporation and American Express Credit Corporation as Chairman.

Upon retiring from American Express in 1993, he Co-Founded RRE Ventures with his son Jim and Stuart Ellman in 1994. RRE Ventures is a New York-based venture capital firm committed to helping founders with exciting technologies build category-defining companies. RRE invests nationally across all sectors, with a current focus on Enterprise Software, Financial Services, Media, Robotics, VR/AR and Space & Satellites. Strategic, Operational, and Financial Partners; they primarily invest in Seed, Series A, and Series B rounds.

Always fascinated by change, especially in technology, Mr. Robinson has been able to successfully grow across industries. Active with the technology community now for more than 30 years, he has led investments in and served on the boards for more than 40 technology companies and continues to advise on several seed companies. He served on the board of directors for The Coca-Cola Company from 1975 to 2015, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company from 1976 to 2008, First Data Corporation, Novell, Inc. and Business Insider. Previously in his career, he was also on the Board of General Motors and Union Pacific. His current Boards include Ondeck, Avant, Chain, Nerdwallet and Coverhound, among others.

Mr. Robinson maintains membership with the Economic Club of New York and the Council of Foreign Relations. He is also the author of two books, "Inflation Overkill" in 1999 and "Full Stream Ahead" in 2000. Recognized on the Forbes Midas List of Top 1000 VC's and in the Institutional Investors' Fintech 35, Mr. Robinson has been highlighted in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World. Mr. Robinson has been an active member of the Board of The Brookings Institute and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for 38 and 47 years, respectively. Mr. Robinson was a member of the Business Council and the Business Roundtable where he chaired their international trade initiatives for a number of years.
