NEW YORK, NY, January 03, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marilyn G. Haft has been included in Marquis Who's Who and has been recognized as a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award for Achievements in Entertainment and Sports Law. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A top rated entertainment attorney in New York, Ms. Haft draws on more than 40 years of experience in the field of law. As the owner of the Law Offices of Marilyn G. Haft, P.C., she specializes in the business and legal affairs of multimedia and communications industries, including the film, television, digital and publishing sectors. She is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. Throughout the course of her career, she has represented several well-known clients, including Peter Jennings.

Ms. Haft chose to pursue a career in law due to her desire to save the world. When she was 6-years-old, she saw a film about the Holocaust, which motivated her to find ways to prevent similar events from happening in the future. She was also inspired by visiting the United Nations on a school trip, as well as hearing a lawyer named Louis Nizer on the radio. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College in 1965 and a JD from the New York University School of Law in 1968.

Early in her career, Ms. Haft worked as staff counsel with the national office of the ACLU, a full time consultant to NBC News on content, deputy counsel with the government operations committee of the United States Congress, and Associate Director of the Office of Public Liaison at The White House. For one year, she also served as deputy counsel to former Vice President Walter Mondale in The White House. She then ran the primary campaign in New York City for the re-election of the President, and then served as a U.S. Representative to the United Nations. She was also an Adjunct Professor of Law at NYU School of Law, and an Adjunct Professor for film studies at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Prior to establishing her own law firm, she served as a partner with Duval & Stachenfeld, LLP, the Marshall Firm, Tanner, Prop & Farber, Fischbein, Badillo & Wagner, and Summit, Rovins and Feldsman. She also served as in-house counsel to a publicly traded company that was buying and selling multimedia companies. She is president of the Friends of the World Federation of the United Nations Associations, and a member of the board of the Foreign Press Foundation.

In recognition of her contributions to the field of law, Ms. Haft has been continually recognized as a Super Lawyer. In addition, she has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who of American Women. However, she considers one of her greatest career accomplishments to be the recognition she has received as one of the first gay rights litigators in the country. She is credited with challenging sodomy laws and visitation rights, as well as employment. Although these motions were not initially successful, she is proud to have been a part of starting a movement that has led to many victories in the past few decades.

In addition to maintaining a successful legal career, Ms. Haft is also an award-winning producer, author and editor. Since 1987, she has been recognized as a film producer. In this position, she has co-produced numerous Sundance films. She was most recently credited for her involvement with "Handsome Harry," "Diminished Capacity," "Birds of America," "Preston Sturges: The Rise and Fall of an American Dreamer" and "In a Shallow Grave." Some of her written works include, "Time Without Work," "Rights of Gay People" and "Prisoner's Rights Sourcebook." She has also served as an editor for "Rights of Gay People" and "Prisoner's Rights Sourcebook." She was previously in a Phil Ochs documentary, a Frank Capra documentary, a recent documentary on the Newtown shootings, and has represented American Masters on PBS.
