Elizabeth Carroll Foster Celebrates 40 Years of Experience in Journalism and Fiction Writing

With more than 40 years of experience writing, Ms. Foster has worked as an author, journalist, and freelancer. She has written several books combining research and fiction, including "North Carolina Carrolls 1600s-1850," and "Virginia Carrols and Their Neighbor 1618-1800s." Though her passion is in fiction, she has also written a memoir, "Follow Me: the Life and Adventures of a Military Family," chronicling her life as a career Army officer's wife, which won the Military Writers Society of America's National Book Competition. Her most recent works include "Southern Winds A' Changing" and "Musings, Mutterings, and Aw Shucks: A Collection of Short Stories, Essays and Features."

Ms. Foster began her career at the University of Maryland, earning a BS in Journalism in 1974. She then embarked on a freelance career, writing for such publications as Maryland Magazine and Maryland Farmer. She was a feature writer for the Maryland Independent, creating the community section for the newspaper. She also served as an editor of St. Mary's County Beacon, and began freelancing in the Washington D.C. area from 1985 until 2000, when she turned back toward her fiction. In the coming years, she intends to focus on the worlds she creates in her work
