With 50 years of industry experience to her credit, Ms. Bordelon has worked as a reading specialist for Upper Arlington Schools since 2005. Prior to these appointments, she was a Reading Recovery teacher for Dublin City Schools from 1988 to 2005, as well as in various positions for Marion City Schools, including Reading Recovery teacher from 1986 to 1988, chapter I reading teacher from 1978 to 1986, and elementary teacher from 1968 to 1978. Ms. Bordelon commenced her career as an elementary teacher for Allen East Local Schools from 1966 to 1968.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Bordelon sought an education at Otterbein University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science in 1966. She followed this accomplishment with a Master of Arts in education at Bowling Green State University in 1972. Ms. Bordelon is also certified as a teacher for grades one through eight by the State of Ohio.

Beyond her efforts within the field, Ms. Bordelon has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. A member of the Mansfield Royal Scots Highlanders Pipe and Drum Corps since 1976, she was a deacon for the Covenant Presbyterian Church from 2006 to 2008. She went on to serve as an adjunct instructor with the Department of Graduate Studies at Ashland University in 1996, a member of the Republican National Committee from 1994 to 1995, and a volunteer for the American Heart Association, Inc., in 1991. Ms. Bordelon has also found success as an author, penning such works as "The Parent Workshop" in 1992 and "Octopus Goes to School" in 1995.

In addition to her primary trade, Ms. Bordelon remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She has maintained involvement with the Archaeological Institute of America, the Ohio Education Association, the Reading Recovery Council of North America, Columbus Museum of Art and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Ms. Bordelon is also a member of Phi Delta Kappa International, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society.

In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Bordelon has accrued several accolades and honors throughout her impressive career. She was presented with the Master Teacher Award from the State of Ohio in 2011 and the Excellence in Education Award from the Dublin City Chamber of Commerce from 1991 to 1993 and from 1996 to 1997. She was recognized as a Teacher Award Grantee by the Dublin City Schools and Ohio Department of Education in 1993, as well as a scholar of the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation in 1978. Ms. Bordelon was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
