An expert in civil engineering, Dr. Hamedi was named CMT project manager at Froehling & Robertson, Inc. in 2017. In this role, he manages soil, concrete, grout, and mortar samples and performs tests on concrete, soil, and fireproofing material. In addition to his primary position, Dr. Hamedi has been a courtesy postdoctoral research associate with Florida International University since 2017, having held a dissertation year fellowship and a doctoral evidence acquisition fellowship from 2016 to 2017, and was a graduate assistant with the university from 2014 to 2016. Dr. Hamedi earned a Doctor of Philosophy in civil engineering from Florida International University in 2017.
Inspired to pursue a career in civil engineering from an early age visiting his parents birthtown in Iran where the people drank brackish water, Dr. Hamedi first attended the Azad University of Tehran (South branch), completing a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 2007, and holding an internship with the Tehran Sewage Company as an undergraduate in 2006. Dr. Hamedi continued his studies at the Azad University of Tehran (Central branch), where he earned a Master of Science in civil engineering and water engineering in 2010. From 2010 to 2011, he worked as a researcher with the Water Research Institute. He then joined Mehravan Zist Consulting Engineers as a supervisor in an industrial sewage treatment plant in 2011. Dr. Hamedi also served as a designer of hydraulic structures with Tavanab Consulting Engineers from 2012 to 2013.
Dr. Hamedi has also worked extensively in academia, serving as a university lecturer with Molana Institute of Higher Education from 2009 to 2013, as well as the head of the department of architecture from 2011 to 2013, and a director of education (deputy) from 2012 to 2013. From 2012 to 2013, he worked at Azad University as a lecturer in hydrology, hydraulics, steel structures, concrete structures, and elements and details of buildings; also, lecturing at ABA Institute of Higher Education during the same period. Outside of his work, Dr. Hamedi has been active as a member of the Iranian Red Crescent Society first aid team since 2010.
