For its fourth year, the symposium will feature noted TMS pioneers Dr. Karl Lanocha and Dr. Joshua Kuluva for the first time.

As we look at the continued growth in TMS to treat both neurological and psychiatric disorders, we wanted to add further fodder for treatment of neurological disorders.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, June 02, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- TMS Health Education has finalized its faculty as it gears up for the fourth year of offering the TMS Hands-On Symposium. "As we look at the continued growth in TMS to treat both neurological and psychiatric disorders, we wanted to add further fodder for treatment of neurological disorders such as mild cognitive impairment and pain management," said Dr. Karl Lanocha, Director of Education for TMS Health Solutions and Course Chair for the Advanced Symposium. Dr. Joshua Kuluva, Director of Neurology Services at TMS Health Solutions, will be presenting for the first time this summer.

This year's course will be held on August 16th thru August 19th, 2018, taking place once more in San Francisco's Union Square. The course will be led by well-known TMS practitioners and trailblazers in the field of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), such as Dr. Ian Cook, Professor Emeritus at UCLA and Founding Director of the UCLA TMS Treatment Service and the Depression Research and Clinic Program at the Semel Institute, Dr. Paul Croarkin, Associate Professor of Psychiatry of the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Jonathan Downar, Co-Director for the MRI-Guided rTMS Clinic at the University Health Network and an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto.

Four of the Hands-on TMS Symposium faculty members taught the first ever Master Course on TMS at the American Psychiatric Association (APA) annual meeting in New York City in early May of this year. "Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: Clinical Applications for Psychiatric Practice" was met with great acclaim from the sold-out course with over 150 participants! Dr. Richard Bermudes, Chief Medical Officer of TMS Health Solutions, co-taught the course with Dr. Lanocha, Dr. Cook and Dr. Philip Janicak, Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University. Dr. Bermudes, Dr. Lanocha, and Dr. Janicak recently published a book thru the APA under the same title.

With a limited class size and nine hours of hands-on training throughout the four days, the Hands-On TMS Symposium course attracts attendees from around the globe. Faculty, in addition to having deep experience with TMS, includes affiliation with top universities such as Stanford, UCLA, Northwestern, UCSF, the Mayo Clinic, and University Health Network in Toronto. Course topics include exploration in emerging neuromodulation and brain stimulation technologies and using TMS with children and adolescents for developmental delays or mild cognitive impairment.

About TMS Therapy:
Cleared by the FDA in 2008, TMS is a drug-free, non-invasive therapy for patients who suffer from treatment-resistant depression. It is administered in a physician's office in an outpatient setting. By using an MRI-strength magnetic field to stimulate the prefrontal cortex of the brain, the core symptoms of major depression can be relieved. Unlike antidepressants or Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), patients undergoing TMS therapy experience minimal side effects.

Headquartered in San Francisco, TMS Health Education is an education company that provides CME credits and continuing medical education to the professional community. Our annual symposium brings together the nation's leading academics and clinical practitioners to present the most current learnings and relevant information on the treatment of clinical depression illness through Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy. TMS Health Education is led by Dr. Richard Bermudes and Dr. Karl Lanocha, two of the nation's leading experts on TMS therapy.
