When we started this global campaign, it was our goal that more children would be reading by the time the competition ended. That goal has been met and surpassed.
LONDON, ENGLAND, June 14, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Helen Doron Educational Group has announced the winners of the 2018 Young Heroes Readers are Leaders campaign. The campaign, highlighting reading as a superpower, motivated hundreds of teachers, parents and children to take part in inspirational projects encouraging children to read.
"We were delighted to see the unique projects created by our Young Heroes," commented Helen Doron, CEO of the Helen Doron Educational Group. "We're very proud of the creativity, enthusiasm and dedication that went into making the projects a success, especially as they will continue to benefit children and their communities for years to come."
76 projects from 15 countries were reviewed by the Judging Panel. The winning project, The Book's Secret, created by The Wizards from the Slatina Learning Centre in Sofia, Bulgaria, focused on all three of the campaign challenges: Promoting reading, creating books, and donating books. The winning project will be presented with €5,000 to donate to UNICEF Bulgaria. Each team member will receive €100 book vouchers.
Coming in close behind were two more exceptional projects: The #1 Kids Bike Library by Kyiv Leaders, Ukraine and Leave the Phone, Take a Book by Readers from Nitra, Slovakia. These teams will be presented with €2,500 to donate to two charitable organizations, BLAGO.art and OZ pri Zakladnej Preschool respectively. Each team member will receive a €50 book voucher.
"When we started this campaign, it was our goal that more children would be reading by the time the competition ended. That goal has been met and surpassed. Our students and the wider community joined together to enjoy the power of reading. Books were donated to worthy causes, reaching children in orphanages and hospitals. Many children enjoyed the experience of telling stories and creating their own books," noted Doron. "We hope children everywhere are inspired to continue reading, because as we know, Readers are Leaders!"
