Currently teaching as an adjunct professor in the school of law at Northeastern University since 2013, Mr. Kohn formerly taught at the Antioch School of Law for several years and was the clinical director of the school's Whistleblower Rights Clinic. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Whistleblower Center.

Mr. Kohn earned an undergraduate degree at Boston University, magna cum laude, in 1979, followed by a master's degree at Brown University in 1981 and a JD at Northeastern University in 1984. He has been admitted to practice by the D.C. Bar, the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. District Court of D.C., and of the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, and Federal Circuits.

Mr. Kohn is the author of the first legal treatise on whistleblowing and is the world's most published author on whistleblower protection. His most recent book, The New Whistleblowers Handbook (Lyons Press 2017) is widely regarded as the most comprehensive handbook on whistleblowers ever published. He has received the prestigious Daynard Public Interest Fellowship from Northeastern University, was named Whistleblower Law Firm of the Year by Lawyer International for 2018, received a White Collar Crime Trailblazer Award from the National Law Journal in 2015, has been named a Top Attorney by DC Magazine, Super Lawyers, and The Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers by Martindale-Hubbell where he is AV-Rated.
