Roger S. Hunt Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Hunt has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the healthcare field

BLOOMINGTON, IL, September 05, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Roger S. Hunt with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Hunt celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Retired as a healthcare administrator, Mr. Hunt began studying his industry during a very significant time in United States history when the financing, technology and scope of healthcare delivery was drastically changing, creating new demands and opportunities. Beginning as an assistant administrator of the Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in 1968, a 500-bed facility in Philadelphia, he was later promoted to administrator at the age of 28. Mr. Hunt served as Director of the Indiana University Hospitals in Indianapolis from 1977-1984, served as the president of the Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, IL between 1984 and 1990 as well as president and chief executive officer of Fontbonne Health Systems in Toronto, Canada between 1990 and 1992.

Serving in a number of other high-level positions throughout his career, in 2001, Mr. Hunt was hired as an interim executive to direct the two-hospital BroMenn Healthcare System in Bloomington, Ill. Eight months later, he became president and chief executive officer for BroMenn. Retiring from the position in 2012 after completing a 10-year capital improvement plan, he also established the community's first graduate medical educational programs and facilitated the merger of this strong, local hospital system with the Advocate Health Care System, where he served as a senior consultant for Advocate Health Systems from 2011 to 2012. Mr. Hunt then spent another year as an interim executive director for the Community Cancer Center, officially retiring in 2013.

Mr. Hunt believes that his interest in health administration came from several hospital stays that he experienced as a child. Later becoming aware of the complexity and challenging role of managing a vital community institution, he knew that he made the right decision all these years later. Mr. Hunt's career moves and development were largely driven by opportunities to build community-based health delivery systems that would provide improved integration of healthcare providers, hospitals and ambulatory services.

Through this journey, Mr. Hunt has coordinated the development of eight hospital mergers and consolidations in the U.S. and Canada, and has enjoyed serving as faculty to graduate programs in healthcare administration and as a mentor to new healthcare professionals. He notably taught as an associate professor of hospital administration at Indiana University School of Medicine. Throughout his career Mr. Hunt served as mentor and preceptor for young executives and healthcare administration graduate students.

A Life Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and longstanding member of the American Hospital Association, Mr. Hunt has also been active locally with several organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, the McLean County Chamber of Commerce and the Miller Park Zoological Society. He has been serving as the board director of the Community Cancer Center since 2012, Westminster Village since 2012, the McLean County United Way since 2012 and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra since 2003. Furthermore, he has been a longtime member of the Society of American Magicians since 1992. Mr. Hunt earned an undergraduate degree at DePauw University in 1965 and an Master of Business Administration at George Washington University in 1968.

Mr. Hunt was the recipient of a Legacy of Excellence Award by the McLean County Chamber of Commerce in 2012, was named Philanthropist of the Year by the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation in 2011 and received a Citation from the State of Illinois House of Representatives in 2010. He has been cited in close to 45 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. Apart from his career, he has maintained a passion for sailing and music. For the past 30 years, Mr. Hunt bonded and sailed with four other sailing friends as the Mystic Order of the Summer Solstice Sailing Society. Mr. Hunt grew up in White Plains NY, in 1965 he married Mary Libby of Hockessin, DE. They have two children and two grandchildren.
