Rhonda Katrina Hollis, Ph.D. is a professor emerita of nursing who devoted 22 years to Columbus State University.

COLUMBUS, GA, September 12, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Rhonda Katrina Hollis, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Hollis celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Hollis is a professor emerita of nursing who devoted 22 years to Columbus State University. Retiring in 2010, she formerly worked in the field as an instructional specialist for the American Red Cross, public health nurse supervisor for the Fulton County Health Department in Georgia, staff nurse at the Georgia Mental Health Institute in Atlanta and charge nurse at the Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta beginning in 1972.

Enjoying a very rewarding career in both academia and nursing, Dr. Hollis contributed numerous articles to professional journals and was a contributor of work on the study of HIV risky behavior in African American women. A longtime member of the Association of Black Nursing Faculty in Higher Education and the National League for Nursing, she is also a member and Ethic Minority Fellowship Award recipient of the American Nurses Association and member and Mary Eliza Mahoney Award recipient of the Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated. She has been serving as the Southeast Regional Director of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated since 2016.

The recipient of a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2000, Excellence in Nursing Practice Award from the Columbus Georgia Metro Black Nurses Association in 1991, and Volunteer Community Service Award from the American Red Cross in 1980, Dr. Hollis has also been cited in several editions of Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Nursing, Who's Who in the South and Southeast and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.

Earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Tuskegee Institute in 1972, Master of Science in Nursing at the Medical College of Georgia in 1976, and Doctor of Philosophy in nursing sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1995, Dr. Hollis has been an advance practice psychiatric/mental health clinical nurse specialist through the Georgia Board of Nursing since 1988. Making the decision to pursue a career in nursing, Dr. Hollis said that she had a set of twins in her family that were both registered nurses and served as role models for her. Becoming inspired by their professions, she gravitated toward mental health because it was the practice of working with the whole person, not just the physical components. During her career, she notably lectured on mental health, traveling as far as China to lecture to health professionals. Public speaking, she says, is one of her greatest strengths.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Rhonda Katrina Hollis, Ph.D., has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
