Amassing many years of professional excellence, Dr. Schall is a venerated and versatile industry leader who has been working as the founder and operations leader of SOS Consulting LLC since 2004. Alongside this appointment, she is an authorized partner of John Wiley & Sons Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team and Everything Disc since 2017. Prior to these positions, she was a methodology director of RR Donnelley & Sons Company, Inc., for two years, president of Susan O. Schall Process Improvement Consulting for three years, and technical superintendent of control system engineering for DuPont Engineering Polymers for one year.

In addition to her primary roles, Dr. Schall has been a consultant of the ABET Foundation since 2014. Previously, she served ABET Inc. as an adjunct training director, on its board of directors, and as an engineering accreditation commissioner between 1997 and 2011. Likewise, she was the former president of the Engineering Alumni Society at her alma mater, the Pennsylvania State University, for two years and an industrial and professional advisory council member of the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University for nine years. Civically, she was on the board of examiners of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2006 and 2008, a Lay Leader of the Front Royal United Methodist Church from 2010 to 2012, and a Project Lead the Way community partner with the Warren County Public Schools from 2010 to 2017.

To prepare for her illustrious career, Dr. Schall pursued formal education at the State University of New York at Fredonia, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics in 1981. She subsequently received a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in industrial engineering from the Pennsylvania State University between 1982 and 1988. She has since become an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and an ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence. Dr. Schall is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

A contributor of myriad articles to professional journals, Dr. Schall was a co-author of "Variability Reduction: A Statistical Engineering Approach to Engage Operations Teams in Process Improvement" in Quality Engineering in 2012. In addition, she authored "Is Your Organization Healthy Enough for Six Sigma?" to the ASQ Six Sigma Forum Magazine in 2015. In order to remain aware of recent developments within the industry, she maintains affiliation with several organizations, including the American Society of Engineering Education, the American Society of Quality, and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. Notably, she has served the ASQ as the chair of the Freund-Marquarat Medal Committee since 2014 and the Northern Shenandoah Valley section of the ASQ as chair, internet liaison, and treasurer since 2002.

As a testament to her professional success, Dr. Schall has accrued a number of accolades throughout her impressive career. Most recently receiving the Medallion Award from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers in 2018. She was named ABET Fellow in 2007. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Engineering Alumna Award from the College of Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University in 2009. In addition, she received the Distinguished Service Award from the Engineering Alumni Society at the Pennsylvania State University in 1999, and the Engineering Excellence Bronze Award and the Engineering Excellence Silver Award from DuPont Engineering in 1990 and 1992, respectively.

Looking toward the future, she intends to have a transforming effect on small manufacturing, as she believes that small manufacturers are often overlooked. Notably, she was highlighted in the 69th and 70th editions of Who's Who in America.
