Dress for Success Worldwide's Women Who Inspire Breakfast raised over $115,000 for programming that supports women in attaining financial independence.
NEW YORK, NY, October 09, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dress for Success Worldwide (www.DressForSuccess.org) today announced that its 12th annual Women Who Inspire Breakfast, held September 20, was a tremendous success, raising over $115,000 for programming that supports women in attaining financial independence. "It was incredibly empowering to be in a roomful of women who care passionately about women and women's lives," said Joi Gordon, Chief Executive Officer of Dress for Success, an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence.
The highlight of the breakfast was a fireside chat between headliner Gretchen Carlson, journalist, advocate, and author of Be Fierce, and moderator Lucy Kaylin, editor-in-chief of O, The Oprah Magazine. "For anyone wishing to be inspired, look no further than Gretchen Carlson," said Kaylin. "It was an honor to interview her—and be a witness to the life-changing work Dress For Success Worldwide is doing."
"Gretchen Carlson and Lucy Kaylin had a revealing conversation, filled with wisdom and insight," said Gordon. "I was so grateful that our breakfast guests had the opportunity to benefit from their experiences in overcoming career and life challenges."
Anita D'Costa, one of Dress for Success Worldwide's 2018 "Success Ambassadors," gave an eloquent testimony of the role of Dress for Success in her journey from personal tragedy to gaining a new career and life. "The Dress for Success Professional Women's Group allowed me to share my story with other women and learn that many of the women I met had also overcome great personal loss and hardship. I gained a sisterhood of love from women who understood and nurtured me," D'Costa declared.
The Women Who Inspire Breakfast attracted support from many sponsors that were recognized at the event, including:
Sullivan & Cromwell LLP
Calvin Klein/Tommy Hilfiger
Each guest received a copy of Carlson's book and a Tommy Hilfiger scarf and make-up bag.
Dress for Success also recognized its strategic partners in the room, Talbots and Ulta Beauty, and announced a new partnership with Peruvian Connection. Peruvian Connection provided in-kind donations for the breakfast and will be participating as a signature partner in Dress for Success' #GivingTuesday 2018 campaign by donating 20 percent of sales on select alpaca and wool coats to Dress for Success.
Dress for Success' final signature event of 2018 will be Women Helping Women, a breakfast panel to be held on December 6th, 2018 at Manhattan's fabled Rainbow Room. This event, which sells out annually, raises awareness, funds and support to benefit Dress for Success's Professional Women's Group, a cornerstone program that serves as a networking, educational, and life skill building platform for women who have recently entered or re-entered the workplace.
