Frederic H. Bertrand has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the insurance industry

NAPLES, FL October 11, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Frederic H. Bertrand with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Frederic H. Bertrand celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Bertrand is a retired insurance company executive with more than 40 years of professional experience. In addition to leading and overseeing the operations of several companies, he was also an Army lieutenant and spent 13 months in Korea as a combat engineer platoon leader. Throughout a multifaceted career, he has remained dedicated to service toward others above all else.

Mr. Bertrand earned a BSCE, magna cum laude, from Norwich University in 1958, and as was mandatory for of-age males at that time, he was expected to complete several years of military service. After active duty ended in 1960, Mr. Bertrand was asked by a neighbor about joining the CIA, which seemed far-fetched since he was an engineer. However, because the agency was in the process of erecting a new building in Langley, VA, his skills and experience were a perfect fit, and he became the project engineer for the undertaking. He was latter sent to Southwest Asia to build facilities for the Agency, after which he returned to the United States for further assignments. He continued his military career in the Active Reserves until 1970, having achieved the rank of Major.

In 1966, Mr. Bertrand received a JD from the College of William and Mary. From 1970 to 1997, he was with National Life Insurance Company as an assistant counsel, associate counsel, vice president, senior vice president, and a member of the board of directors. In the latter part of his career, he also served as executive vice president, chief operating officer, president, and eventually chairman and chief executive officer of the company. As both a lawyer and registered professional engineer in the state of Vermont, he provided invaluable expertise and insight on any initiatives he was involved in completing. These included building projects in California, Oklahoma and Florida.

In 1976, Mr. Bertrand was elected mayor of Montpelier, Vermont, its capital city. He also previously served as city alderman and president of the city council. He was a charter member and later Chairman of the Vermont Business Roundtable. Other organizations he has lent his time and knowledge to include Union Mutual Fire Insurance Company, the New England Guaranty Insurance Company, The Chittenden Bank, Vermont Electric Power Company, The Governor's Council of Economic Advisors, and the Catamount Energy Corporation. He served as a civilian aide to the secretary of the Army from 1981 to 1993 and as a trustee of Norwich University from 1979 to 1985, He was also was Chairman of the American Council of Life Insurance in 1993, and a former member of the Virginia and Vermont Bar Associations, the Washington County Bar Association, Theta Chi and Epsilon Tau Sigma over the years.

Mr. Bertrand was honored as Man of the Year by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce in 1992. He also received an Outstanding Alumnus Award from Norwich University in 1980, as well as an honorary Doctorate in Business Management from the institution, and the Distinguished Civilian Service Award from the U.S. Army in 1993.

Mr. Bertrand married Elinor Pierce of Montpelier in 1960. They had 3 children, Kimberly, John and Michael and 4 grandchildren Riley, Millie, Beckett and Jonathan.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Frederic H. Bertrand has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
