With more than 50 years of professional experience to his credit, Dr. Dediu is an esteemed researcher, mathematician and computer scientist who currently serves as president of the consulting firm Derc, Inc. Prior to this position, he worked for the federal government from 2002 to 2010.
Dr. Dediu's career began as a researcher and professor at numerous educational institutions, including the University of Turin in Italy and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. From 1984 to 1990, he worked as a principal software engineer at Applicon-Schlumberger in Burlington, Massachusetts, Encode Technology, Inc. in Nashua, New Hampshire, and the Adcole Corp. in Marlborough, Massachusetts. In 1997, Dr. Dediu earned the post of senior consultant at IBM before being named director of management information services at Parexel International and then vice president of engineering at Artificial Life Inc.
Dr. Dediu earned a Master of Science from the University of Bucharest in Romania in 1966 and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Institute of Mathematics in 1972. He supplemented his education by becoming certified as a mathematics teacher in the state of Ohio.
A prolific writer, Dr. Dediu has authored more than 40 books, including "World History - A New Perspective," "100 Great Personalities and their Quotations," "Venice (Venezia) – A New Perspective" and "Two Great Leaders: Augustus and George Washington." He has also written more than 19 monthly newsletters and is a reviewer for the American Mathematical Society, with over 200 reviews of books and research articles published.
Dr. Dediu was for many years a member of several professional organizations including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Computer Society, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the Mathematical Association of America and the American Mathematical Society. He has been recognized by the Oberwolfach Research Institute for Mathematics in Germany and the National Research Council of Italy.
One of Dr. Dediu's greatest achievements was being invited to present his research at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in Rome, the oldest scientific academy in the world. He has presented his work at more than 20 universities across the United States, Europe and Asia. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Dediu was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in the World, the 23rd edition of Who's Who in the East and the first edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
