Stanley J. Bastian Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

A retired Idaho State Legislator for both the House and Senate, Mr. Bastian most notably served as a senator with the Idaho State Senate, District 14, from 2007 to 2008, representative for the Idaho State House of Representatives between 2004 and 2006 and, councilman for the Eagle City Council between 1990 and 2006. A former educator of more than 30 years, he has taught government and economics and was the Professional Technical Coordinator for the Nampa School District for many years. First teaching at the Soledad Union Elementary School in 1966, he later retired as the Assistant Principal at Nampa High School in 2000. Mr. Bastian also owned his own custom home design business, Bastian Construction, for nearly 20 years between 1978 and 1996. He is currently serving as president of the Eagle City Council, a position he has held since 2018.

Serving on multiple different academic committees during his tenure, Mr. Bastian was a member of the faculty senate and the social studies department chair at Willow Glen High School. He also served as the district social studies coordinator, secondary curriculum committee chair, department chair and coordinator of the professional technical programs for the Nampa School District. As coordinator, he was highly successful in increasing the scope of the technical courses offered, which attracted more students into the program. Furthermore, he established the Idaho Community College Consortium, which was made up of chairmen and presidents of the College of Western Idaho, the College of Southern Idaho, the North Idaho College and now includes the College of Eastern Idaho. Mr. Bastian is notably a longstanding member of the ldaho Education Association and the Idaho Association of School Administrators.

Well-known in his community, Mr. Bastian is a former scouting coordinator for the Ore-Ida Council, member of the Eagle Library Board and Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 26. He was a liaison for the Ada County Sheriff s Office, the Eagle Sewer District and the Meridian School District, now the West Ada School District, as well as for numerous agencies associated with the city of Eagle. He is a member and former chairman of Eagle Urban Renewal and member of the Spring Valley Community Infrastructure District No. 1 for the city of Eagle. Furthermore, he has volunteered for many years with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, upholding various leadership positions for nearly two decades.

Mr. Bastian was presented with an Award for Service by the Information Technology Resource Management Council and an Outstanding Young Teacher Award by Forestville Central School District. He was, additionally, named Teacher of the Year by Nampa High School. In light of all he has accomplished, Mr. Bastian has previously been cited in nearly a dozen editions of Who's Who in American Politics and Who's Who in the West.

Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Bastian received an Associate of Arts from Santa Rosa Junior College in California and a Bachelor of Arts from Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California. Following these accomplishments, he earned a Master of Arts from Colorado State University in Fort Collins and completed postgraduate coursework at Boise State University in Idaho. Mr. Bastian also holds a Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.
