June Ellen Gilmore Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

June Ellen Gilmore was appointed to the executive board of the Ohio School Psychologists Association, and was president of both the Southwestern Ohio School Psychologist Association.

Now retired as a psychologist, Ms. Gilmore practiced in the mental health field for 25 years. Beginning her career in 1963 as an intern at the Hamilton City Schools in Ohio, she later accepted full-time academic roles at several Ohio schools, most recently including the Cincinnati City Schools between 1978 and 1986. She excelled as a planner and evaluator for the Mental Health Board of Warren and Clinton Counties in Ohio between 1986 and 1988 whilst simultaneously operating out of her own private practice from 1975 to 1995. Ms. Gilmore also served as an adjunct instructor at Wright State University from 1989 to 1990.

During her many years in psychology, Ms. Gilmore was very active in local endeavors. She maintained involvement with Auglaize County Social Services in Wapakoneta, Ohio as chairman between 1973 and 1975 and the Tri-County Drug Council in Lima, Ohio as secretary in 1975. She later found success on the board of directors of the Butler County Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board between 1990 and 1997, during which time she also held the title of secretary between 1992 and 1994. The co-author of "Summer Children: Ready or Not for School" in 1986 and "The Rape of Childhood: No Time to be a Kid" in 1990, Ms. Gilmore also co-edited "The Second Hundred Years" for Madison Township during 2010.

A longtime member of numerous professional organizations, Ms. Gilmore was appointed to the executive board of the Ohio School Psychologists Association, and was president of both the Southwestern Ohio School Psychologist Association and the Southwest Council of Exceptional Children. Likewise, she held the positions of president and newsletter editor for the Butler County Retired Teachers Association. Ms. Gilmore was also affiliated with the Butler County 648 Mental Health Board as president as well as on the board of directors.

Originally planning to become a physician, Ms. Gilmore wound up in education as an assistant kindergarten teacher before getting into psychology. Always interested in people and their problems, psychology was a good fit for her. She notably holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Miami University. Licensed as a psychologist in the state of Ohio, Ms. Gilmore has been selected for inclusion in many editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who of American Women between 1989 and 2009.
