Robert S. Foust Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

In 2005, Robert S. Foust received the U.S. Senate Award for 30 years of service along with a commendation in the Congressional Record the same year.

A former legislative assistant, legislative director and senior policy advisor to U.S. Senator Kent Conrad, Mr. Foust has devoted more than 40 years toward a career in politics. Working for Senator Conrad between 1991 and 2005, he also served as a legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Claiborne Pell between 1971 and 1989. Using his expertise in the field, Mr. Foust then excelled as an associate professorial lecturer in legislative affairs at George Washington University between 2006 and 2009 prior to his retirement.

While working in politics, Mr. Foust was involved in many projects, including education issues at the elementary, secondary and university level, and international relations. He was recognized by numerous organizations including the National Education Association, National Association of Federally Impacted Schools, and the National Head Start Association. Over the years, Mr. Foust was also commended by the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Disabled American Veterans for his work on military, veterans health care and homeless issues. In l962, Mr. Foust was selected as a member of the USA-USSR Student Exchange program through the YMCA under the U.S.-Soviet Cultural Exchange Agreement of 1958-60.

Upon earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science at Upsala College in 1964, Mr. Foust was offered the opportunity to participate in several internships with Senator Claibome Pell before being appointed full time in l970. In I97I, he received a Master of Arts in international relations at Lehigh University. He also studied national security at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the National Press Club, a professional organization for journalists and communications professionals in Washington, D.C. and the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. Adjacent to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston, Massachusetts, the Institute focuses on educating the public on the important role of the Senate.

In 2005, Mr. Foust received the U.S. Senate Award for 30 years of service along with a commendation in the Congressional Record the same year. In 2002, he was honored with a CARE-Deutsche-Post recognition for initiating under Senator Conrad an Afghan widows and orphans relief project. Mr. Foust has been featured in approximately 40 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Politics, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
