D.C. Band Washington Social Club Announces First Show in 10 Years

Washington Social Club, a D.C. band best known for their high energy, no-holds-barred approach to up-tempo power pop, has announced that they are playing the Black Cat, on December 13th, 2018. This will be the band's first show together in 10 years.

"We wanted to prove that this city could be a home to working weirdos who do art and music. 17 years after our first show at the Grog and Tankard, Washington seems is proving that for itself..."

WASHINGTON, DC, December 06, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Formed in 2001, their first two albums — Catching Looks (2004) and Bigger Than Your Boyfriend (2007) — earned strong reviews from critics like Mark Jenkins (Washington Post). But the band is most well-known for their "frenetic" (Chris Klimek, Washington Post) and "mesmerizing" (Catherine Andrews, Washingtonian) live shows; they performed to sold-out crowds in D.C. and toured the country for seven years.

After taking a long winter's nap, Washington Social Club is back with new music, middle-aged swagger and an abiding love for their city.

"In the early aughts, D.C.'s image as a town for working suits gave us our raison d'etre," says bassist and lifelong Washingtonian Olivia Mancini. "We wanted to prove that this city could be a home to working weirdos who do art and music. 17 years after our first show at the Grog and Tankard, Washington seems is proving that for itself, with more music venues, art spaces and organizations supporting local artists than I remember in my lifetime."

"We hope the show will be a homecoming for us and our fans. We want to shout and sing and get sweaty and celebrate the club that was our mainstay for many years."
