Annual KSO Holiday Concert Offers Traditional Classics with Broadway Twist

    KALAMAZOO, MI, December 11, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The popular Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra holiday concert tradition continues with "Sounds of the Season: Songs of Love, Joy, & Peace," on Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. in Chenery Auditorium. The orchestra will perform traditional holiday music and be joined by Broadway stars J. Mark McVey, Marissa McGowan, and Valerie Lemon for a selection of Broadway tunes. Resident Conductor Daniel Brier will conduct the orchestra and welcome the Touring Choir of the Kalamazoo Children's Chorus for a selection of pieces. Tickets for this concert are available through the Miller ticket office or at KalamazooSymphony.com.

The holiday concert also features the KSO 2018 Youth Soloist Competition winner, pianist Jessaly Zhu. A sophomore at Portage Central High School and Kalamazoo Area Math and Science Center, and student of Susan Wiersma Uchimura, Zhu will perform Saint-Saens' "Piano Concerto No. 2," 3rd movement, Presto, with the KSO.

Concert Schedule and Ticket Details
The evening's Student Showcase features Crescendo Community Voices from Kalamazoo's Crescendo Academy of Music, at 7:30 p.m. in the Chenery balcony lobby, with the Sounds of the Season concert beginning at 8 p.m.

Tickets start at $24 and may be purchased online through the KSO's box office, or by calling the Miller Auditorium ticket office at 269.387.2300. Student $5 Rush Tickets, with a valid student ID, are available at the Chenery Auditorium Ticket Office the night of the concert.
