Between 1966 and 2002, Dr. Kaiser found success at the University of Missouri in multiple capacities. Initially hired as an assistant professor, he held the positions of associate professor and full professor by 1975. Between 1995 and 2002, he was notably designated as a curators' distinguished teaching professor of chemistry. He also worked as an associate chair of chemistry from 1994 to 1996 and the director of the honors college from 1984 to 1991. Following his tenure at the University of Missouri, Dr. Kaiser has been active part-time as an adjunct professor and consultant at Stephens College from 2006 to 2013.

Dr. Kaiser earned his undergraduate degree at Youngstown State University in 1960 and Doctor of Philosophy at Purdue University in 1964. He concluded his studies upon completing postdoctoral research at Duke University between 1964 and 1966. Dr. Kaiser was a longtime member of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society.

Teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses during his career, including general chemistry for non-chemistry and non-science majors, Dr. Kaiser mainly taught basic first year organic courses, intermediate synthetic organic chemistry and advanced organic chemistry overall to over 14,000 students. Outside of the classroom, he excelled in numerous advising, programming and supervisory responsibilities in the honors college at the University of Missouri. He also supervised the research program in the areas of synthetic organic chemistry effected by organometallic reagents. Dr. Kaiser's most successful graduate student was a gentleman who, along with his wife, discovered the first and most widely prescribed anti-HIV drug.

Dr. Kaiser lent his expertise as a visiting professor at the University of East Anglia in the U.K. and the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. Likewise, he served as a visiting professor and Fulbright lecturer at the University of Botswana. He has also written extensively, contributing to approximately 90 published scholarly articles for various scientific journals and books. Moreover, he has maintained membership with the American Chemical Society. Locally involved with the United Church of Christ in Columbia since 1966, Dr. Kaiser has also been involved as a member of the planning and zoning commission and the city council with the city of Columbia, Missouri.

Dr. Kaiser was the recipient of a William T. Kemper fellowship in 1991 and a Fulbright fellowship in 2003. He previously accepted a Distinguished Faculty Award from the University of Missouri in 1991. In 1968, he was named among the "Outstanding Young Men of America." Dr. Kaiser has been featured in nearly 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the Midwest.
