When she was younger, Dr. Schall initially wanted to be a patent lawyer, but quickly changed her focus towards engineering, having inherently loved mathematics and science. At the start of her career, she worked as a quality engineer with Kodak then held increasing roles of responsibility with DuPont, including as technical superintendent of control systems engineering with DuPont Engineering Polymers and Director, Continuous Improvement at R.R. Donnelley & Sons. Following her corporate career, Dr. Schall found success through consulting.
Today, Dr. Schall is Founder & Operations Leader of SOS Consulting, LLC transforming small US manufacturers to compete today and tomorrow with a Roadmap to Competitive Results. In this role, Dr. Schall is as an authorized partner with John Wiley & Sons, Inc Everything DiSC. Leveraging her 26 years of experience within the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), Dr. Schall also provides consulting to industrial engineering programs around the world in preparation for their ABET accreditation evaluation.
An expert in her field, Dr. Schall initially earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the State University of New York at Fredonia. Later, she obtained a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in industrial engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Schall concluded her studies with a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial engineering, also from the Pennsylvania State University.
In order to remain current in her endeavors, Dr. Schall is affiliated the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), the American Society of Quality(ASQ), and the American Society of and Engineering Education (ASEE). Always a servant leader, Dr. Schall shares her expansive knowledge, publishing a number of creative works, including "'Is Your Organization Healthy Enough for Six Sigma?" and "Variability Reduction: A Statistical Engineering Approach to Engage Operations Teams in Process Improvement."
For her professional accomplishments, Dr. Schall was recognized with a plethora of awards, including the IISE Medallion Award in 2018, the Penn State Distinguished Service Award in 1999, the DuPont Engineering Excellence Bronze Award in 1992 and the DuPont Engineering Excellence Silver Award in 1990. Looking toward the future, Dr. Schall hopes to reach more small US manufacturers to transform organizations, lives and communities.
