Thereafter, she earned a Master of Arts in computer systems and a Doctor of Education in instructional technology from the University of Houston in 1988 and 1999, respectively. Most recently a programmer and creative process consultant in League City, TX, where she worked from 2003 to 2006, she commenced her career as a programmer with Control Applications in Houston, TX. As her career progressed, she also worked as a computer science instructor at San Jacinto College, a computer science reader with Educational Testing Service and a programmer for shuttle cockpit avionics upgrades with the United Space Alliance.
Influenced by her professors at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, Dr. Larson was motivated to pursue teaching out of a desire to give others the professional opportunities she had experienced. In addition to her primary career endeavors, she worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 1996 and 1999 and again from 2003 to 2005. Dr. Larson is unparalleled in her support of the computer sciences, and she was a sponsor for the Computer Science Club in Houston from 1992 to 1994.
Interested in remaining abreast of professional developments, Dr. Larson belongs to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, as well as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. She also maintains membership with the University of Houston Clear Lake Alumni Association, the University of Houston Alumni Association, and numerous honor societies. In light of her considerable professional strides, Dr. Larson has been recognized in such publications as Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
