Linda Eardley Hollis Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Linda Eardley Hollis was the co-author of a chapter on the plan for Tysons in the book "Suburban Remix: Creating the Next Generation of Urban Places," published by Island Press in 2018.

An urban planning consultant and senior planner for Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning for seven years, Ms. Hollis officially retired in 2013. Contributing more than 38 years to her field, she formerly worked as an independent planning consultant, director of developmental policy with the Urban Land Institute in Washington, DC, consultant for Tischler & Associates, Inc., in Bethesda, MD, and planning analyst for First Citizens Bank in Raleigh, NC.

Ms. Hollis was the co-author of a chapter on the plan for Tysons in the book "Suburban Remix: Creating the Next Generation of Urban Places," published by Island Press in 2018. She also co-authored the paper "Open Space Protection: Conservation Meets Growth Management" through Brookings Institute in 2002 and has contributed numerous articles for her local community's quarterly magazine, "Potomac Green Today."

A longtime member of the American Planning Association, during her tenure with the organization she served in a number of roles. She was on the board of directors, was a regional representative and the chairman of the national state policy coordinating committee. She was a representative of the citizens advisory committee of metropolitan development with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.

Locally involved, Ms. Hollis is active with the Potomac Green Chorale, a local choral group. She is a former vice chair of the Fairfax County Commission on Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation, is a former vice president and former president of the Potomac Green Condominium Unit Owners Association, and was a member of the steering committee for the Partnership for a Healthier Fairfax.

Ms. Hollis was a member of the team receiving the Burnham Award for Best Comprehensive Plan in the U.S. by the American Planning Association in 2011. She has been cited in close to 20 editions of Who's Who over the years, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.

Originally working in banking, Ms. Hollis went back to college years later after earning a Bachelor of Arts from Pennsylvania State University in 1968. Relocating to Raleigh, NC, with her husband, she attended the University of North Carolina and graduated with a Master of Arts in regional planning in 1979. Married to the late Daryl Joseph Hollis, Ms. Hollis enjoys spending her free time listening to music, reading and traveling.
