Over the years, he has gained valuable expertise through medical and educational roles with the National Cancer Institute, the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, the School of Medicine at the University of Auckland, the University of Utah and the U.S. Public Health Service.
A member of the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, Dr. Odell holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Science in physiology and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Chicago, and a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry and physiology from George Washington University. In an effort to remain abreast of changes in the field, he maintains affiliation with the Western Society for Clinical Research, through which he won a Mayo Soley Award, the Western Association of Physicians, the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society, the Society for the Study of Reproduction, the American Society of Andrology and the Association of American Physicians, among myriad others. Utilizing his vast array of knowledge, he has served as a member of the editorial boards of various medical journals and also contributed to more than 330 articles in his field.
For his professional excellence, Dr. Odell earned the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Chicago in 1973, the Pharmacia Award for Outstanding Contribution to Clinical Chemistry, and the Mastership Award from the American College of Physicians.
