Bi-racial Comedian Bill Posley Will Debut His Critically Acclaimed Hollywood Fringe Festival Solo Show "The Day I Became Black" in NYC

Playing at the Soho Playhouse March 8 - April 15, 2019

"America needs to see this show. It will be a step forward towards making America (dare I say it?) greater." - Aaron Mendelson, HFF18

NEW YORK, NY, February 21, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Los Angeles-based comedian Bill Posley will debut his critically acclaimed solo show, The Day I Became Black, in New York City at the SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street) Friday, March 8 through Monday, April 15, 2019.

Bi-racial comedian Bill Posley grew up happily identifying as both black and white. But at age 10, he learned the world does, in fact, judge a book by its color and even though he's half white, he's labeled 100% black. Does a young comedian have to get rid of his whiteness in order to be the color he's "supposed" to be? Posley weighs in on the modern-day conversation about race from a unique, hilarious, and thought-provoking perspective.

The multi-racial population is growing three times faster than the population as a whole. Directed by Bente Engelstoft, The Day I Became Black tackles the ever-present racial issues present in American society, not just through a black lens, but through a bi-racial one as well. In his 60-minute solo show, Posley takes the opportunity to touch upon religious, political, and gender identity issues as well, further demonstrating the fact that we have all been forced to "identify" at one time or another. The Day I Became Black finds the comedy in the struggle of trying to fit in and trying to just be yourself.

Performances for The Day I Became Black take place on Mondays at 7 PM and Thursdays – Sundays at 9 PM. All tickets are $39 and are available for purchase online at:

The Day I Became Black is produced by Kristen Boulé.
