Foreign Applications Down but Some Career Colleges are Increasing Foreign Student Enrollment

International student enrollment in US traditional colleges and universities has dropped again this year. The difference this year is that career college enrollment for international students dropped too. But some are not dropping. Why?

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, March 03, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- International student enrollment in US traditional colleges and universities has dropped again this year. The difference this year is that career college enrollment for international students dropped too. Career colleges offer workable alternatives for both international students and US citizens facing the high cost of tuition and uncertain job placement after graduation.

With a much higher rate of post-graduation job placement, career colleges offer a solution to problems with visa changes. Students have a much easier time finding a job and obtaining the necessary visa before their student visa expires, easing the transition and mitigating issues that arise from uncertainty. Even so, international enrollment for career colleges have dropped along with traditional educational tracks.

However, SOME career colleges are not dropping in foreign student enrollment. These colleges are actually seeing rising rates. At CCI TheDegreePeople.com, we wanted to find out what these schools are doing right that everyone else is missing.

We conducted an informal online questionnaire to see why international enrollment in these career colleges are going up. What stood out to us about all of these schools is that their application process was seamless. As a non-US student, the application process can be intimidating. A big part of this has to do with the foreign credential evaluation step.

To attend a career college, international students need to show that they have the educational equivalency of a US high school diploma. To do this, they must provide secondary education certificates and mandated government exam scores if applicable. Prospective students need to provide a credential evaluation that clearly shows the value of their foreign education in terms of US academic standards. This can be confusing if the school has not developed its admissions process to clearly incorporate this step. When this process is simplified, international enrollment increases.

We also conducted a questionnaire asking foreign students what a simplified application process looks like. They responded that it meant fewer questions on the application and a quick and easy way to have their credential evaluations completed. Based on feedback from these questionnaires, CCI TheDegreePeople.com works with career college admissions to develop a simplified application that makes it easy for international students to apply and take care of all the extra steps necessary by integrating them into the school's process.

To accomplish this, we work directly with the admissions department. The admissions staff sends us a request for an evaluation directly, and we send back the final evaluation as a PDF file in 24 to 48 hours to keep the process moving along.
