Ms. Flanigan is a former nurse, social worker and administrator who retired in 2019 after 10 years as a corporate compliance officer and clinical director for the Sheppard Pratt Health System.
Located in Baltimore, Sheppard Pratt is the largest non-profit provider of mental health, substance use, special education, developmental disabilities, and social services in the country. Formerly employed with the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital in Baltimore for 28 years, she worked her way up from a program coordinator to quality assurance administrator, clinical policy administrator, director of quality and evaluation services, director of medical psychiatry and regional director of general hospital managed services between 1982 and 2010. Ms. Flanigan also worked for Linda Lee Cosby, RN, BSN, PA, in Baltimore as a rehabilitation nurse consultant from 1981 to 1982 and The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore as a clinical nurse and clinical psychotherapist from 1975 to 1981.

Ms. Flanigan has worked diligently in integrative care bringing behavioral health out of the shadows and into the mainstream. Treating the whole person, body and mind, has been the most gratifying aspect of her career and something she is very proud of. In more recent years, she has focused on various integrated care initiatives, compliance audit processes for behavioral health and consultation for behavioral health service operations. The co-author of a chapter in "Modern Hospital Psychiatry," Ms. Flanigan is also a longtime member of the Healthcare Compliance Association.

Locally, Ms. Flanigan has served as the longtime co-founder of the sport of sailing with the Special Olympics since 1982 and was certified as a race officer with the United States Sailing Association in 2012. Earning a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, in 1975, she then received a Master of Social Work at the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 1981. Ms. Flanigan is a registered nurse, licensed social worker and has been certified in healthcare compliance.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, two of Ms. Flanigan's biggest professional inspirations have included her grandparents who were both in the medical profession. Married since 1984 to her husband, Daniel Philip Flanigan, she is the proud mother of three wonderful children. In her free time, Ms. Flanigan loves sailing, traveling, practicing yoga and working in her garden.
