As a respected interior designer, Mr. Miyake has contributed to his field for more than 30 years. Through the work of design, he has been able to travel the world and collaborate with many different cultural styles. In 1986, he received a diploma in craft design from Musashino Art University in Kodaira, Japan, and subsequently joined the architectural design division and interior design department of the Kajima Corporation. Mr. Miyake has remained with the Kajima Corporation for the entirety of his career, often working through their international subsidiaries, Kajima Europe Ltd. and Kajima U.S.A., Inc. Outside of his primary appointments, Mr. Miyake has also served as a consultant for various interior design projects.
Throughout his career, Mr. Miyake has completed design projects in London, Berlin, Frankfurt, New York City, Chicago, and myriad locations throughout Japan. At present, he is working on the renewal of Hotel Nikko Kochi Asahi Royal, President Resort Karuizawa, Cruise Asuka II and the Royal Park Hotel the Shiodome. In previous years, he designed Hotel Niigata, Hotel APPI Grand Tower, All Nippon Airways, the Hiroshima Bank, the Mitsukoshi Berlin Shop and the Crest Hotel Kashiwa, among several other buildings.
As a testament to his professional prowess, Mr. Miyake has also received many awards and honors for his work in interior design through the years. He has received multiple Good Design Awards from the Italian Cultural Institute, the Royal Park Hotel the Shiodome, and Condominium the Hayama. Earlier in his career, he received a Lighting Design Award for Excellent Facility and numerous Japan Commercial Design Awards from Royal Park Hotel the Shiodome, Hotel Niigata, and Hotel APPI Grand Tower. Most recently, he received the Good Design Award from Kominato Railway Company Ltd. In his spare time outside of work, Mr. Miyake enjoys Japanese classical performing arts, the opera, and swimming.
