John Rigsby Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

John Rigsby has excelled on the board of overseers for the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College since 1996.

Supported by decades of practiced industry experience, Mr. Rigsby has excelled on the board of overseers for the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College since 1996. Previously, he spent time at Virgin Media from 2008 to 2013 on the business operations and technology committee, on the audit committee, and on the board of directors. Before accepting these titles, he acted as president of Bright House Networks LLC in Tampa Bay and Orlando, FL, from 2003 to 2007. He also served as president of Time Warner Communications in Maitland, FL, from 1995 to 2004. With Paragon Communications, he was president of the Manhattan division in New York City from 1988 to 1995 and the northeast division in Mahwah, NJ, from 1986 to 1988. He considers this work to be the highlight of his career.

Mr. Rigsby began his professional career with the American TV and Communications Corporation in San Diego, CA, as an assistant regional manager from 1976 to 1977 and western regional manager from 1977 to 1979. Remaining with the same company, he relocated to Denver, CO, where he held the roles of division manager of cable operations from 1979 to 1982, vice president of subscription television operations in 1982, vice president of video product development from 1982 to 1985, and vice president of consumer satellite services from 1985 to 1986. Outside of his primary endeavors, he has held a seat on the board of directors with the University of Central Florida Foundation Inc.

Before entering the field, Mr. Rigsby pursued a formal education at various esteemed academic institutions. He decided on his area of study because cable television was just starting out. He first completed coursework at Stanford University and the University of Hawai'i. He continued his studies at Brown University in Providence, RI, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1968. Upon gaining this degree, he served to the rank of lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972.

For the following two years, Mr. Rigsby was a management development consultant with the Human Resource Management Center of the United States Navy. In this post, he designed and conducted seminars and training. He also served as a chief engineer and was mentored by Arthur Moreau, a four star admiral who went on to work for the Joint Chiefs of Staff as an assistant to the chairman. Upon his honorable discharge in 1974, he resumed his academic work at Harvard University Business School in Cambridge, MA. He graduated in 1976 with a Master of Business Administration, which led him to be recruited by the American TV and Communications Corporation.

Civically, Mr. Rigsby has served on the board of directors with Enterprise Florida Inc. and the Harlem Boys Choir of the Harlem Youth Development Foundation. He was also a past campaign vice chair of United Way in 1999 and 2000 as well as chairman of the board of trustees with the United Arts of Central Florida in 1999. With the Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida Inc., he found success as a corporate council board member and former chairman. He sat on the executive council for the University of Central Florida's College of Arts and Sciences and on the board of the Friends of the Mennello Museum of American Folk Art. Moreover, he was a member and subcommittee co-chair of the Florida Information Services Technology Development Task Force.

In light of his professional accomplishments, Mr. Rigby was recognized with a Silver Hope Award for Outstanding Leadership, Community Service, and Philanthropy from the mid-Florida chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in 2004. He was given a Vanguard Award for Cable Operations Management from NCTA in 2002, a Governor's Business Leadership Award from the state of Florida in 1999, and a scholarship from the NROTC from 1964 to 1968. The United States Navy honored him with a Decorated Navy Achievement Medal and a Navy Commendation Medal. Additionally, he was named a Cable TV Pioneer in 2001.

An active presence in the field, Mr. Rigsby was on the board of directors with the California Community TV Association from 1978 to 1980 and a member of the Harvard Business School Club of New York and the Harvard Club of New York City. He has previously been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the West, and Who's Who in Entertainment. In his free time, he enjoys travelling and taking photographs.
