Susan Marie Best-Gualandi Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    MEMPHIS, TN, April 18, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Susan Marie Best-Gualandi with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Best-Gualandi celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Initially interested in pursuing a career in pharmaceuticals, Ms. Best-Gualandi earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Illinois Chicago in 1972. Subsequently, she served as a graduate pharmacist with S&C Drugs in Peoria, IL, as well as a graduate pharmacist with the Indian Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD, from 1974 to 1976. She further excelled as an art instructor for various institutions including the Illinois State University, Bradley University and Illinois Central College between 1988 and 1993. Throughout these appointments, she also worked as a studio artist, presenting her artwork in the Struve Gallery in Chicago between 1991 and 1993.

In 1991, Ms. Best-Gualandi obtained a Master of Fine Arts from Illinois State University, having previously received a Master of Arts in fine arts from the university in 1988. Outside of her primary career responsibilities, she worked as a visiting artist and instructor with Longue Vue House and Gardens in New Orleans, LA. An active member of her community, she has served on the board of directors for St. Thomas School in Peoria and the Peoria Art Guild. Her creative works have been displayed in exhibitions at the Contemporary Art Center, as well as the Jay Etkin Gallery in Memphis, TN. To remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Best-Gualandi maintains a relationship with the American Association of University Professors, the American Association of University Women, the National Organization for Women and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

A member of the New Orleans Museum of Art, Ms. Best-Gualandi has also been affiliated with the Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans, The Chicago Artists Coalition, The Lakeview Art Museum, the Sun Foundation and the Planned Parenthood Association. As a testament to her prolific success, Ms. Best-Gualandi was a recipient of the Percent for Art Award from the City of New Orleans in 1997. She was presented with a fellowship from Illinois State University between 1988 and 1991, as well as various other awards including two grants from the Illinois Arts Council in 1995. Also, her teaching career at Bradley University included the honor of being the first faculty member who, with her students, won the annual "Faculty Student Abstract" award in the early 1990s. Aside from her professional career, she enjoys participating with the YMCA, playing the piano and observing democratic politics in her spare time.
