Maurice "Reese" Wolfe Schonfeld is an American television journalist best known for co-founding CNN and the Food Network.

An American television journalist best known for co-founding CNN and the Food Network, Mr. Schonfeld has excelled as the president and the owner of Beauchamp Place Communications in New York City since 2000. He began his career as a copy boy with United Press Movietone News in New York City in 1956, where he later accepted the posts of a managing editor and as the vice president. Serving as the vice president of the United Press International Television News in 1974 and the founder of the Independent Television News Association in 1975, Mr. Schonfeld later found success as the vice president of Cox Enterprises, the vice president of development and founder of News 12 for Cablevision, the executive producer and the president of Current Trends Productions and a board member for CNN, the Food Network and the Independent Television News Association.
While at CNN, Mr. Schonfeld was credited with originating the 24-hour cable news concept. Joining Cablevision Systems in New York thereafter, he was additionally responsible for developing and overseeing the first 24-hour, all-news service on a local cable system known as News 12 on Long Island. He also produced "People Magazine on TV" for CBS and aided in the development of News Channel 8 for Allbritton Communications Company. Further contributing to Time Warner, where he planned the International Business Channel and designed and implemented the Medical News Network, an interactive TV news service for Whittle Communications, Mr. Schonfeld notably participated in various consulting projects and has provided his expertise to numerous publications, such as the Huffington Post.
Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Mr. Schonfeld graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark. Following this accomplishment, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Dartmouth College. He later concluded his studies with a Master's degree and a Bachelor of Laws at Columbia University. The recipient of a Primetime Emmy in 2001, Mr. Schonfeld has since been selected for inclusion in the first edition of Who's Who in the Media and Communication and the 22nd edition of Who's Who in the East.
