Advanced Dermatology and Laser Institute of Seattle Introduces PRO-NOX for Advanced Pain Control

Patients can self-administer nitrous oxide to alleviate discomfort and anxiety during non-surgical cosmetic treatments

SEATTLE, WA, May 07, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Advanced Dermatology and Laser Institute of Seattle announced on Monday the addition of new equipment to help patients feel comfortable during cosmetic skin treatments. The new PRO-NOX machine is a patient self-administered nitrous oxide system for use in controlling pain and anxiety associated with cosmetic procedures such as laser resurfacing and a variety of injectable procedures including BOTOX, dermal fillers, and Kybella.

Nitrous oxide triggers the release of dopamine and serotonin in the body. It provides instant yet temporary natural relief of discomfort and angst both before and during a cosmetic procedure.

"Pre-therapy anxiety and suspense can prevent a patient from scheduling treatments that they really want to have done," said Dr. Steven Greene, board-certified dermatologist and medical director of Advanced Dermatology and Laser Institute of Seattle. "With PRO-NOX, these anxious patients have an option to relax with minimal side effects."

In a video on the practice YouTube channel, Dr. Greene explains how PRO-NOX has superseded the other pain management options previously provided at Advanced Dermatology and Laser Institute of Seattle.

"We're able to put our patients in a wonderful relaxation mode," he says in the video. "They are totally present; however, pain and discomfort become unimportant."

Ultimately, PRO-NOX reduces treatment times, lessening the risk of adverse side effects. Patients who use PRO-NOX during treatment also enjoy care almost entirely free of remembered pain.

In the recent past, patients were often prescribed medication to mitigate symptoms of anxiety prior to cosmetic procedures. Though effective, these medications are usually associated with unpleasant side effects such as lethargy, nausea, and dizziness – all of which can last long after the appointment.

The effects of nitrous oxide, on the other hand, only last about 5 to 8 minutes. After a brief observation period, Dr. Greene and his team can safely allow patients to drive themselves home, provided they are accompanied by a chaperone.

PRO-NOX is easy for patients to use. During the procedure, patients can inhale nitrous oxide on an "as-needed" basis in order to maintain a comfortable, disassociated state of mind. Pain management with PRO-NOX is entirely customized to the patient, by the patient, with consistent monitoring by Dr. Greene and the team at Advanced Dermatology and Laser Institute of Seattle.
