Capital Who's Who has selected Honorable Roberta C. Pevear for the 2019 Most Influential Woman

Hon. Roberta C. Pevear of Exeter, New Hampshire, has been presented the Vanguard Award by Capital Who's Who Branding for her lifetime achievements in the legal sector and subsequent successes in the literary field.

EXETER, NH, May 10, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hon. Roberta C. Pevear was born in Bethel, Maine, and attended the prestigious Gould Academy in her hometown. She studied Commercial Art and graduated in 1947, progressing straight into a role as secretary to the owner at Wilner Wood Products, a manufacturer and supplier of woodwork products based in South Paris, Maine. She then went on to a role as Export Secretary at Whitaker Cable North Kansas City, and later on served as District Secretary at Anheuser-Busch brewery company in Kansas City, Missouri. By 1960, Roberta had been employed as a legal secretary to an officer at Johnson & Johnson, based in New Brunswick, New Jersey. This role proved to be Roberta's stepping stone into the legal industry.

In the '60s, she joined the St. John, Ronder and Bell Legal Firm in Kingston, New York, where she acted as secretary to firm partner Mr. St. John. In this capacity, she continued to expand her expertise in the administrative side of law practice, and by 1967, had brought these skills over to the administration of the historic Sears, Roebuck and Company (now known simply as Sears), where she worked first in Overland Park, Kansas, and later as Administrator of the District Office in Exeter, New Hampshire. She would later go on to establish her life in N.H.

Having gathered several decades of experience and knowledge in various factions of the legal industry, Roberta ventured onto bigger responsibility, and was elected to represent Hampton and Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, in the 400-member N.H. House of Representatives. Initially elected in 1979, Roberta was appointed as the Hampton Falls Commissioner on the Rockingham County Planning Commission for ten years, and later as the County Commissioner for Rockingham County on the New Hampshire Planning Commission from 1985 for a further four years. She also served on the Rockingham County Executive Committee and served as the Chairman of the Rockingham County Home Committee. In addition to these various roles, she also served as Civil Defense Director for Hampton Falls from 1979 to 1988.

To date, Roberta lends her skills and time to the Exeter Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and serves as the Chairman of its Veterans Committee, where she supports the work of Liberty House, based in Manchester, New Hampshire, which provides transitional accommodation for homeless veterans. Prior to this appointment, she served for four years as Regent of Ranger Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Other groups Roberta has been affiliated with over the course of her career include the National Order of Women Legislators, and the New Hampshire Order of Women Legislators. She sat on the Board of Directors of the Exeter Sportsman's Club, as well as the National Association of Professional Women, who presented her with the Woman of the Year 2013 Award. Other accolades Roberta has received include the Community Citizen Award from Hampton Falls Grange in 1982, Seacoast Retired Senior Service Award in 1985, and the Inspirational Woman of the Year Award 2014 from the Women's Radio Network. Roberta has just been featured with a full page spread in the first publication of Marquis Who's Who "A Lifetime of Achievement; a Collection of Prestigious Listees".

Upon her retirement, Roberta decided to take her life in an exciting and challenging new direction and focused her efforts on writing and filmmaking. The result was her co-authorship of a non-fiction novel 'Write Quick: War and A Woman's Life in Letters 1835-1867', which was based on the transcribes of 200 letters between her Great-grandfather and Great-grandmother sent over 150 years ago during the Civil War. It provides a fascinating true historical insight into the lives of women during the Civil War, from the hardship, and heartache to the fortune and courage in the face of adversity. Looking to the future, she hopes to take up the role of Executive Producer for the film adaption of her book, entitled 'Heartache: A Woman and the Civil War', for which she has already written the film proposal and received firm interest from several lead actors and voiceovers.

Besides her book film-making Ms. Pevear has also been putting in time as an activist for safer evacuation plans in the event of a Nuclear Emergency at the Seabrook Station nuclear power plant at Seabrook, New Hampshire. Six of the seven Massachusetts towns/cities within the 10-mile evacuation zone, all except West Newbury, have written to the Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Washington DC requesting a hearing of Whistleblowers to tell whether they believe the evacuation plan is sustainable and safe. A very important topic for residents within the possibly effected areas. Read more here....
