Trammell Crow and Actress, Author and Activist ASHLEY JUDD Take a Stand for our Sister Species, the Endangered Bonobo

In a nation that has seen so much war, Bonobos serve as an icon and emblem of peace. On Thursday May 16, 2019 a press conference will be held at the UN headquarters in New York City to announce the Democratic Republic of Congo's official endorsement

WASHINGTON, DC, May 14, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Actress and activist, Ashley Judd, Trammell Crow and Sally Coxe (Bonobo Conservation founder) will all be in attendance for this event. Bonobos, humankind's closest—yet little known—relatives, have found a new champion in actress and "Time's Up" activist Ashley Judd. They would love to share how these great apes not only inform humans about our past but also can help guide us to a better future. Additionally Trammell Crow's Earth X will be offsetting their carbon footprint with the Bonobo Peace Forest.

In her fight for gender equality, Ms. Judd has found inspiration in the world of the Bonobos. In stark contrast to chimpanzees, our other closest relatives, Bonobos are distinguished by their female-centered, matriarchal, peaceful society. Known for their wide-ranging amorous proclivities, they rely on affection and female alliances rather than aggression to maintain social harmony.

Last summer, Ms. Judd accompanied BCI on a journey to the Bonobo habitat, deep in the heart of the Congo rainforest. The expedition was well documented by renowned National Geographic photographer Frans Lanting and award-winning documentary filmmaker James Brundige. Ms. Judd viewed Bonobos in the wild firsthand, and also witnessed the incredible conservation efforts underway in the Bonobo Peace Forest. The Peace Forest is a vast area of protected rainforest comprised of a network of community-managed nature reserves, supported by sustainable development. It simultaneously benefits the rainforest, wildlife, and indigenous communities.

United Nations requires registration to attend this event by noon on Tuesday May 14th.
