Accruing more than 20 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Emshoff currently serves as a consultant in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Innsbruck, Austria and its surrounding areas. He began his professional career as the head of the orofacial pain unit and a resident of the department of dental and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Innsbruck in 1997. Following these appointments, Dr. Emshoff held several posts at the University of Innsbruck, eventually accepting the position of an associate professor of surgery in 2001, in which he excels to this day.

Notably, Dr. Emshoff has contributed to the development of rehabilitation methods of treating chronic facial pain and pioneered minimal-invasive temporomandibular joint surgery, which are both exceptionally effective. In addition, he has established non-invasive modalities quite useful in treating certain types of chronic temporomandibular disorder pain. Likewise, Dr. Emshoff has also introduced the development of a conceptual model for the identification of clinically relevant effects in the field of chronic temporomandibular pain.

Prior to embarking on his professional path, Dr. Emshoff pursued a formal education at Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf, Germany, initially completing coursework in philosophy. Eventually shifting his focus to human medicine, he obtained a Doctor of Medicine from the aforementioned university in 1987. Dr. Emshoff concluded his studies at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, graduating with a Doctor of Medical Dentistry in 1990.

An established authority in the management of chronic orofacial pain, Dr. Emshoff is an author of the textbooks "Current Concepts on Temporomandibular Disorders" and "Treatment of TMDs: Bridging the Gap Between Advances in Research and Clinical Patient Management," both published through Quintessence Publishing. Additionally, he has authored and co-authored more than 100 research articles for scientific journals, mainly in the field of orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders. Dr. Emshoff has additionally participated on the editorial boards for a number of journals, including Case Reports in Medicine, Pain and Therapy, and EC Dental Science.

Outside of his primary responsibilities Dr. Emshoff remains updated of his trends in his field through his affiliations with many related organizations. Notably, he is a member of the Society of Clinical Trials, the Philosophy Science Association, and the New York Academy of Sciences. Dr. Emshoff has further maintained his involvement with the Academy of Orofacial Pain and the International Association for the Study of Pain.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Emshoff has received a number of important awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2005, he was presented with the Hochschulpreis Endodontie by the Fachzeitschrift Endodontie. Subsequently, he was recognized as a recipient of the coveted Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Moreover, Dr. Emshoff has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
