Light The Girl Productions

Founded by Linda A. Palmieri and Carin Moffat, two Toronto based actresses looking to change the playing field for their personal careers, who realized, the calling was so much bigger than roles and parts for just themselves. Before the #metoo movement had begun, back in the Spring of 2016, Linda and Carin created Light The Girl Productions Inc., a production company geared towards changing the narrative for women in front of the camera, by getting women behind the camera.

They won their first short film contest with a 5 mins screenplay, See Me Now; an honest look at a woman near extinct in her own, self-less life. The film was shot script-to-screen in 6 weeks, premiered at The CaribbeanTales International Film Festival and went on to screen at over 10 film festivals around the world, including Newport Beach Film Festival, The Toronto Black Film Festival and The Richard Harris Film Festival in Ireland. Out of a cast and crew of 24, 19 of them were female - including director Sharon Lewis and editor Christine Armstrong. Their second short film script, The Boot, a light hearted look at a woman learning how to let go while in the midst of mourning her husband, came semi-finalist in the 2016 Stage 32 Short Film Competition.

Linda and Carin feel passionate about their mission to bring authentic, female driven content to a global audience. In a bid to remain steadfast to their desire of inclusion, without completely ostracizing the 'other' gender, Linda and Carin have set their sights on noble mandates like the pioneer Anna Serner of the Swedish Film Institute, as the mainstay of their company mandate; "Gender equality and diversity is the key to success…"

Currently in development on their first feature film, Linda and Carin have optioned the award winning novel, Everything Beautiful Is Not Ruined, penned by Canadian novelist Danielle Younge-Ullman. Short listed for the Governor General's Award and winner of The White Pine Award, this young adult novel tells the coming of age story of Ingrid, daughter to the larger-than-life Sophia Lalonde, a former opera singer. Set in a wild wilderness trekking camp for at-risk youth, Ingrid must manage to survive the wilderness, the feral teens and the demons that seek to destroy her mother and ultimately, herself.

For Linda and Carin, 2 passionate actors, writers and now producers, it is the perfect jump-off point for their burgeoning production company.
