A registered professional engineer, Mr. Kutscher pursued an education at the University of Minnesota, earning a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in 1972. Shortly thereafter, he began his tenure with Black & Veatch in Kansas City, MO, as an electrical engineer from 1972 to 1973. He received his MBA from the University of Kansas in 1982. He has held multiple positions with the company at their location in Overland Park, KS, serving as an electrical engineer, a senior electrical engineer, a project engineer, a project engineering manager and a project manager prior to his departure in 1999. Following these appointments, Mr. Kutscher found success as the president of Kutscher Research in Overland Park, KS from 1999 until his retirement in 2004.

Beyond his primary responsibilities, Mr. Kutscher managed the supervisory control and data acquisition and the associated telecom system design and procurement for the Nevada Test Site, which is one of the largest test facilities in the United States. He was also responsible for creating new classes for the training program of the American Red Cross, for which he taught over 100 separate classes. Civically, he has been previously involved with United States Volleyball Association, the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, the American Red Cross, rising to volunteer Chairman of Disaster Services of Greater Kansas City, and the Barefoot Hikers and Grass Walkers of Greater Kansas City, which he founded in 2005. A former member of the Kansas City Outdoor Club, Mr. Kutscher is also affiliated with the Sierra Club.

Having penned myriad articles for professional journals, including the Transmission and Distribution Magazine, Mr. Kutscher additionally authored the book "Multi-Layered Reality," which was published in 2002. In a career filled with many achievements, he is proud to have responded to over 300 fires with the Disaster Action Team for the American Red Cross, as well as inventing the team sport "Barefoot Hub Ball" in 2017. Other accomplishments to Mr. Kutscher's credit include becoming the world's leading advocate for barefoot natural walking as a form of exercise, and responding to over 10 large regional and national disasters through the American Red Cross. A testament to his success, Mr. Kutscher has been the recipient of numerous accolades.

Recognized as an International Volunteer Day honoree by Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser, he has been presented with the Eunice Shirley Award for Distinguished Volunteer Service from the American Red Cross. He was further celebrated as an Honorable Mention by the United States of America Volleyball Heart of America Region. In his spare time, Mr. Kutscher enjoys reading, barefoot hub ball, philosophy, general history, the paranormal, ufology, barefoot walking and hiking, and researching both climate change science and solutions.
