Patricia Norah Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    COLUMBUS, GA, July 11, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Patricia Norah with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Norah celebrates many years of experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. With thirty-two (32) years of professional experience. Mrs. Norah retired in 2006 because of a heart attack, officially in 2007, having previously excelled as the choral director at Carver High School since 1991. Prior to this role, she worked as the choral director at Baker High School from 1987 to 1991, and as the general music teacher at Fort Benning Public Schools from 1986 to 1987. Earlier in her career, Mrs. Norah served from 1978 to 1984, as the choral director at Fort Middle School and as a general music teacher at South Columbus Elementary from 19 I to 1978. At eight (8) years of age, she started piano lessons and was hired as the church's musician (pianist) at ten (10) years of age. She has served for sixty-two (62) years as choir director, organist, and keyboardist for many churches and denominations.

In 1963, Mrs. Norah and Peace Baptist Youth Choir was the opening act at the nationally known gospel singer, Shirley Caesar's concert in Columbus, GA. Eight (8) years later, she was hired as a Vocal Music Educator for Muscogee County School District to teach elementary, middle school or high school levels. During this time, she was also the project manager in creative music, a facilitator of workshops at Music Educators National Conferences (MENC), and supervised and trained student teachers. In 1985, she worked with Suzette Charles, the second Miss Black America, training teenagers to perform during her opening act. Ebony Magazine, which has since been dissolved, presented the event at the Three Arts Theater in Columbus, GA.

In 2007, Mrs. Norah and the Saulsbury Band opened for the popular Rhythm & Blues group. The O'Jays, at the Columbus State University's River Center. Most recently (2017 -20I9), she has been an adjudicator for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity's Nationwide Talent Hunt and a musician for the Delta Sigma Theta Founder's Day Rededication Ceremony in 2019.

Mrs. Norah attended the all-women's, Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, from 1964 -1965 then transferred to Columbus College (presently Columbus State University) as the first African American music major. In 197 I, she earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She completed additional coursework with the University of Florida in 1972. She concluded her academic efforts with Columbus State University earning a Master's degree in Education with an emphasis in music. As one of the few students enrolled in the program, she graduated before the degree was completely developed.

Mrs. Norah, a respected voice in her field, has been an active leader in her community. She is a member of the National Education Association, the Music Educators National Conference, and the Georgia Association of Educators. She has also found success as Minister of Music for Spirit, Truth, and Liberty Ministries, Inc., served as a workshop facilitator for Franchise Church, as well as many other churches in the community, and also served as Assistant Minister of Music at St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Norah has been celebrated for her achievements. In 2000, she, along with G. W. Carver High School Chorus's participation, received the Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award from the Governor and Secretary of State for representing Georgia at a centennial festival held in Washington, DC. In 2004-05, she was honored in Who's Who Among American Teachers. In 2006, she was the recipient of the Outstanding African American Award for integrating Columbus College's Music Department. In 2007, she received the Music Teacher Excellence Award from the National League of American Pen Women. After thirty-two (32) years of teaching, she retired from the Muscogee County School District in Columbus, GA in 2007. After retirement during that same year, she became Asst. Minister of Music at Spirit, Truth, and Liberty Ministries, Inc. in Columbus, GA. By 2010, she was appointed Min. of Music at Spirit, Truth, and Liberty Ministries. Inc. where she presently serves.

Mrs. Norah has also been presented in multiple editions of: Who's Who in America. Who's Who in American Education. Who's Who in American Women, and Who's Who in the World.
