Diane Marie Dudzinski, PhD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Diane Marie Dudzinski was recognized as the first woman participant of US-USSR Joint Oceanographic Expedition to the Bering Sea.

Dr. Dudzinski arrived in the United States and pursued a formal education at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1968. She subsequently graduated from Fordham University with a Master of Science in 1970. Soon thereafter, she obtained a Doctor of Philosophy, also at Fordham University. Moreover, Dr. Dudzinski completed a fellowship with the American Society of Science Educators at Stanford University during the summers of 1982, 1983, and 1984.

Dr. Dudzinski began her career at Fordham University as a laboratory assistant in 1969, later progressing to the post of a teaching fellow between 1972 and 1974. Soon thereafter, Dr. Dudzinski taught courses at Ladycliff College, Pace University, and Manhattan College between 1970 and 1975. With Manhattan College, she worked as an assistant professor of biology between 1975 and 1978, before accepting the position of an associate professor with the College of Santa Fe in 1978. As she advanced with this esteemed academic institution, Dr. Dudzinski held the posts of a professor and the chairperson of the science and mathematics department from 1978 to 1985.

Dr. Dudzinski found success as a biology professor at Mercyhurst College for five years before serving in the same title at Washington State Community College from 1991 to 2012. Outside of her primary responsibilities, she excelled as an environmental consultant for the Environmental-Medical Laboratories and Controls for Environmental Pollution, between 1979 and 1981. For her accomplishments in the field, Dr. Dudzinski was recognized as the first woman participant of US-USSR Joint Oceanographic Expedition to the Bering Sea.

Accepting the Distinguished Alumni Award from Gannon University, Dr. Dudzinski was presented with a fellowship with NASA and grants from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. Likewise, she has been selected for inclusion in the Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World publications. To remain aware of changes in the field, she maintains her professional ties with the American Institute of Biological Science, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society for Microbiology, the American Society of Protozoologists, the Pennsylvania Academy of Science, and the New Mexico Network for Women in Science and Engineering. A respected voice in the industry, she has authored many articles published in professional journals. Outside of her primary responsibilities, Dr. Dudzinski enjoys snorkeling, swimming, gardening, antiques, and traveling in her spare time.
