James Walter Danielson Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

While working as a Research Microbiologist, Mr. Danielson:
Participated in the Professional Learning Experience Program (PLEP) at the U of MN where students were hired as interns to help with the work in the lab during the 80's.

Participated in a collaborative study between the CDC and the FDA on determining the effect of various chemical germicides on hemodialyzer membranes.

Developed procedures for improving the AOAC sporicidal method for testing chemical germicides. Most of the procedures that were established including a quantitative procedure, clean spores and a sporulation medium for replacing soil extract nutrient broth required in the AOAC test were used by the EPA in a collaborative study for improving the AOAC sporicidal method for testing germicides.

Developed methods for detecting ethylene oxide residuals in plastics and leached compounds in parenteral solutions.

Mr. Danielson gave presentations of the work done at meetings sponsored by AOAC International, Minnesota Chromatography Forum, Center for Devices and Radiological Health, Environmental Pollution Agency, American Society for Microbiology, Food and Drug Administration and Center for Disease Control.

Throughout his career, Mr. Danielson has spent time as a member of the American Society for Microbiology, Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC) and the American Chemical Society. He was also a Study Director for Sporicidal Testing of Disinfectants and Sterilants under the AOAC Methods Committee on Microbiology and Extraneous Materials 1993-2002 and was a Project Officer for the FDA for testing chemical germicides from 1990 to 1992.
