An accomplished listee, Mr. Willstatter celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A retired U.S. Army officer, Mr. Willstatter enlisted in the military in 1944 following his high school graduation. Joining so that he could help put a stop to Adolf Hitler, he had been driven out of his own country of Germany in 1938 at the age of 12 due to his non-Aryan background. He boarded a boat with his brother, leaving his parents behind. During his time in the U.S. Army, Mr. Willstatter was commissioned second lieutenant in 1949 and advanced to lieutenant colonel, later retiring in 1979. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge, the last major German offensive campaign on the Western Front during World War II, between 1944 and 1945.

Settling in Ashland, OR, Mr. Willstatter was the owner and operator of his own business, Twin Plunges, between 1966 and 1978. After working as a fraud investigator for the L.A. County Bureau Charities from 1957 to 1966. Mr. Willstatter is a lifetime member of the National Counter Intelligence Corps Association.

Very involved in his community, Mr. Willstatter ran for the Ashland City Council, where he served as a member from 1968 to 1972, and elected chairman in 1971. He has served as a volunteer probation officer for Project Misdemeanant in Jackson County, OR, since 1969. He was elected chair of The Rogue Valley Transit District in Medford in 1975. He has been an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau in Portland, OR, since 1985. He has been a longtime member of the Rogue Valley International/Medford Airport advisory board since 1995 and the Oregon State Bar Disciplinary Board since 1996.

A guest of honor at a celebration hosted by former mayor Franz Rossle and The Historic Society in remembrance of expulsion of the seven Jewish families from Landsberg by the Nazis, his proudest achievements include being a founding member of The Rogue Valley Transit District, which still serves the area 40 years later. Mr. Willstatter also received a Certificate of Service from Project Misdemeanant in 1992, was named Outstanding Board Member of State of Oregon Special Districts in 1991. He has been cited in the 24th through 26th editions of Who's Who in the West.

Born in Landsberg am Lech, Germany, not far from Munich, Mr. Willstatter later returned to his hometown as an adult to visit. He reconnected with a childhood friend who had fought in the Wehrmacht (the unified armed forces of Nazi Germany from 1935 to 1945) during World War II. Married to his wife Edith R. Klabunde since 1955, Mr. Willstatter and she share three sons and five grandchildren. He is still involved in politics and at 93 ran for City Council in 2018, 50 years after first being elected in 1968.
