Jonathan Houghton Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Eminent Domain and Condemnation Law

Mr. Houghton has been a frequent lecturer in the field, with presentations at the 2019 ALI-CLE Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Seminar, and the 2018 American Railway Development Association seminar.

    NEW YORK, NY, August 23, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jonathan Houghton has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Inspired by an fascination in trial law, Mr. Houghton began in the legal field as assistant corporation counsel for the New York City Law Department in 1998. After four years in the role, he transferred to Cozen O'Connor as an associate attorney. In 2003, he joined Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP for one year as a senior associate before obtaining his current role as partner with Goldstein, Rikon, Rikon & Houghton in 2004. Since he began with the firm, Mr. Houghton has specialized in the areas of eminent domain and condemnation law.

Mr. Houghton has been a frequent lecturer in the field, with presentations at the 2019 ALI-CLE Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Seminar, and the 2018 American Railway Development Association seminar. Moreover, he has participated in a number of notable cases, including NY Central Lines v. State, Bernier v. Papgianopoulos, Bryant v. City of New York, and Funnye v. Paragon Sporting Goods. Over the years, Mr. Houghton also gained valuable expertise in the field as an associate through the Appraisal Institute.

A designated Counselor of Real Estate since 2018, Mr. Houghton earned a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Three years later, he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the prestigious Boston University. Upon graduating, he was admitted to practice law through the New York State Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Tax Court, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Presently, he remains aware of changes in the field through his alignment with the New York State Bar Association. Looking forward into the future, Mr. Houghton intends to experience the continued success of his career while fighting for the rights of property owners in eminent domain cases.
