Minkel Jr. with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Having accrued almost 50 years of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Minkel was a senior partner at Minkel and Associate from 1994 until his retirement in 2018. Previously, he worked as a member of the Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules for the Judicial Conference of the United States from 1987 to 1993. Within that time, he also excelled as a partner at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson between 1979 and 1994 and as an adjunct associate professor at the New York University School of Law. Mr. Minkel also lectured at Fordham Law School, the Georgetown University Law Center, and the University of Kentucky Law School. Mr. Minkel found prior success as an associate with the firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy from 1973 to 1978. He began his career as a law clerk for the chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts between 1972 and 1973.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Minkel pursued an education at the College of the Holy Cross, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1969. Subsequently, he received a J.D. degree in 1972 from New York University School of Law where he was a Root-Tilden Scholar.

Having authored several articles for professional journals, Mr. Minkel was the co-author of the "American Bankers Association Bankruptcy Manual," published in 1979. He was also a contributing editor of "Collier on Bankruptcy." Mr. Minkel represented both creditors and debtors in various in court and out of court restructurings. He has been a member of the National Bankruptcy Council since 1986.
