Earlier in his career, he served Fayette County as the first administrative assistant district attorney, the first trial assistant district attorney and an assistant district attorney in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His first role in the field was that of an assistant trust officer for Fayette Bank & Trust Company.
Before beginning his career in the field, Mr. Korner earned a Bachelor of Arts in history, political science and sociology from Waynesburg University in 1979 before obtaining a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law in 1984. Subsequently, he was admitted to practice law through the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third and Fourth Circuits and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Korner is especially proud of working in the district attorney's office in Fayette County, where he had the opportunity to write briefs to the Supreme Court of the United States. He has been celebrated several times for his legal expertise, earning the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
