New York's 46th Annual Village Halloween Parade Announces This Year's Theme: Wild Thing!

The Iconic Parade Invites Individuals to Join the Costumed Wild Things Section of the Parade!

NEW YORK, NY, September 23, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- New York City's anticipated 46th Annual Village Halloween Parade announced this year's theme will be: "WILD THING!" With Antlers, fur, nails, teeth, hooves, and tails. A jangle of bells, a clattering of bones, a shuffling of straw. What separates human from beast? As long as civilization has defined what it is to be human, humans have harbored a longing for our wild past. In remote villages throughout Europe, the Wild Man persists, as Carnivalesque processions of Kukuri, Wildermann, Pelzmartel, and Schnappviecher to remind us that we can never quite shed our animal DNA. On Halloween, we can be whoever and whatever we desire, allowing us to celebrate what truly makes us humans by exploring how we remake ourselves.

The Village Halloween Parade has always been a wild place, but this year we explore the wilder-ness and call on our revelers to express their inner beast and put on their bear-shirts, horns and antlers, cloaks of fur and straw. The Village Halloween Parade invites you to join a Special Costumed Wild Things Section of the Parade. Advanced tickets are on sale for $25. "Wild thing" costumes are required. This section gives you a front row view of the Giant Puppet performance created especially for the Parade, a band and a chance to meet other costumed folks like yourself while supporting the most wildly creative Parade in NYC! A VIP ticket is also available that allows a secret entry point for early admission with no lines at $100. Secret line-up details will be revealed closer to the event.

The Parade will travel along Sixth Avenue from Spring Street to 16th Street on Thursday, October 31st from 7PM-10:30PM. Official puppeteers Superior Concept Monsters will lead the way, summoning a bestiary of towering masked figures inspired by extant wildermann traditions ranging from Sardinia to Siberia.

"In contrast to the robots of last year, the inspiration for this year's theme comes from a nostalgia for the natural and to connect with that which cannot be repressed --our most elemental natural selves," stated Jeanne Fleming, Artistic/Producing Director of New York City's 46th Annual Village Halloween Parade. "Whoever you are, The Parade is the "call of the wild" offering a place to express your wildest imagination. We invite all New Yorkers and those visiting the Big Apple to come together, reach into their imagination, block out the distractions, and focus on joy as we inhabit the streets of New York LIVE."

The legendary Village Halloween Parade event has entertained the public on Halloween night for the past 45 years, attracting millions of people from around the world. This year after a two year hiatus, our Official after Party is once again at Webster Hall.
