With more than 20 years of professional experience to his credit, Dr. Saisho has excelled as an assistant professor of nephrology, endocrinology, and metabolism with the Keio University School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine since 2009. Prior to his current role, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine Larry L. Hillblom Islet Research Center from 2006 to 2009, and a clinical fellowship with the Keio University Department of Internal Medicine from 2002 to 2006. Earlier in his career, Dr. Saisho worked as the chief resident of internal medicine at Hiratsuka Municipal Hospital from 2001 to 2002 and at Shizuoka Municipal Shimizu Hospital from 2000 to 2001, as well as a resident with Keio University Hospital from 1998 to 2000.

Dr. Saisho pursued an education with the Keio University School of Medicine, where he obtained a Doctor of Medicine in 1998. He later continued his studies with the aforementioned school, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in 2009. A respected voice in his areas of interest, he is affiliated with a number of professional organizations, including the Japan Endocrine Society, the Japan Atherosclerosis Society, and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes. Dr. Saisho is also a fellow of the Association of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine and the Japan Diabetes Society.

Throughout his career, Dr. Saisho has been celebrated for his exemplary contributions to his field. The recipient of two Publons Peer Review Awards, he was recognized as the Resident of the Year in the Division of Internal Medicine by the Keio University School of Medicine. Accepting grants from the Larry L. Hillblom Foundation and the Manpei Suzuki Diabetes Foundation, he has been presented with the International Diabetes Center Etzwiler international scholarship. Likewise, Dr. Saisho has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in the World.
