Newly Released Second Edition of "100 Things to Do in Dallas Fort Worth Before You Die" Includes Visiting DFW Elite Toy Museum

Bucket List Guidebook for DFW Highlights Fun at Hidden Gem Toy Museum

"Everyone really enjoys the toys because they evoke so many memories for people who might have grown up in other times." --Rodney Ross, DFW Elite Toy Museum Curator

FORT WORTH, TX, October 29, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau never lived anywhere near Dallas Fort Worth. However, one of his most quoted lines is "Most men live lives of quiet desperation and die with their song still inside them." While that's not exactly what he wrote in Walden, it's still a scary thought for most of us.

If you're worried that you may be living desperately and may not be singing your song and you live near DFW, you really should grab a copy of Tui Snider's "100 Things to Do in DFW Before You Die" (Reddy Press, 160 pp., ISBN 9781681061702, $16.00) and get going seeing the sights that should be on your bucket list.

In the book, you will find worthy day trips to landmarks like the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and the Magnolia Hotel in Dallas and a visit to a hidden gem in Haltom City, TX, called the DFW Elite Toy Museum.

Admission to the toy museum is free and it is open weekdays from 9-5 pm and on Saturdays by appointment. The museum includes more than 3000 items collected by Fort Worth serial entrepreneur and Fort Worth commercial real estate developer Ron Sturgeon, who was recently featured on CNBC's Blue-Collar Millionaire program.

Because Sturgeon made his first fortune in auto salvage, the toy museum has a focus on all things automotive. It includes scale models, rare vintage racecar toys, and one of the rarest Tippco toys ever made, The Eva Braun Mercedes, of which there are fewer than six known to exist.

"We love visitors," said Rodney Ross, DFW Elite Toy Museum's curator. "We have quite a few groups come from churches and senior centers," he added. "Everyone really enjoys the toys because they evoke so many memories for people who might have grown up in other times."

The museum is located at 5940 Eden Drive, Haltom City, TX 76117. The current exhibit features dogs in art, toys, and antiques.
