Louis Banderet, Ph.D., Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

With nearly 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Banderet has been a research psychologist with the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine since 1970. In addition to his primary role, he was a warfighter cognitive performance leader from 2007 to 2013, chair of the psychological metrics group from 2004 to 2006, technical leader of re-engineering and validation project for the warfighter weapons engagement simulator from 2003 to 2013, and member of the evaluation of analgesics steering committee from 2003 to 2007. Prior to obtaining these positions, he was a cognitive research psychologist from 1981 to 2003, Army artillery team research psychologist from 1974 to 1980, and research animal psychologist from 1970 to 1973.

He is the author of Land Navigation Test for Assessing Cognition (2006), the co-author of the test questions bank for Understanding Psychology (1990) and co-author/co-editor of Special Issue Military Psychology Journal, 1997. He has also contributed chapters to books, served as a reviewer of scientific journals and psychology texts, and is the co-author of several publications which include:

He has presented papers describing his research at Nato Scientific Conferences, international military groups, and national scientific conferences. He was an invited speaker for the Information Exchange Seminar. The uniqueness of his contributions with the warfighter weapons engagement simulator is described in a trade newsletter (Massachusetts Experimental ESTs, Cubic Circuit, Oct 2012, p. 10). He served as an adjunct psychology instructor at University College (evening program at Northeastern University) for 33 years, Quinsigamond Community College (now Quinsigamond State University) for 13 years, and Bell Atlantic Learning Center (now Nynex) for 2 years.

Dr. Banderet obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1965 from Concordia College/ He subsequently attended Washington State University, completing a Master of Science in 1968. He concluded his studies with the school in 1970, earning a Doctor of Philosophy.

A respected voice in the industry, Dr. Banderet has been an active leader in his community. A past member of the Aerospace Medical Association and Sigma Xi, he was an invited speaker, as well as a co-investigator and co-speaker at two meetings of the Information Exchange Seminar. He has served as a member of the Governor's Research Evaluation Panel, a scientist judge with the International Science Fair and the Massachusetts State Science Fair, and a committee chair for Boy Scouts of America Troop 432.

Dr. Banderet is a Christian leader, promoter, and disciple of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church (871 Harris Ave., Woonsocket, RI), a member of Christian Education (2017-), Chairman of Communications and Community Development (2017-), trainee in Forward Leadership (2015-2016), Lay Assistant (2016-); Lay Reader (2014-2017), Chairman, Stewardship (2014-), Chairman, Finance (2014), member, Church council (2013-2018), Fraternal Communicator, Lutheran Brotherhood, Minneapolis, MN (1981-1993) and Lay Assistant, Christ King Lutheran, Holliston, MA (1980-1995).

Throughout his career, Dr. Banderet has been recognized for his contributions. The U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine gave him a 40-Year Federal Service Award, in 2010 Northeastern University (University College) gave him a 30-Year Teaching Award in 2001, was a research grantee of Defense Women's Health, and had two ideas awarded funding in 1993-96 by DoD that were subsequently developed by small businesses. Additionally, he received a U.S. Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service in 2013 and Caregiver of Year of Greater Worcester County from Home Instead (Hearthside franchise) in 2016. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the East.
