Philip Abrim Zuchman Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 22, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Philip Abrim Zuchman with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Zuchman celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Mr. Zuchman is a talented painter and printmaker, as well as a former professor who taught at The Art Institute of Philadelphia for close to three decades. Hired in 1984, he taught various courses and was a gallery director on campus for several years before retiring in 2013. Mr. Zuchman also taught at Brandeis Collegiate Institute in California in 1997, and was the vice president of the faculty federation of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees in Philadelphia from 1987 to 1992.

Renowned for his work, Mr. Zuchman has maintained Zuchman Studios in Philadelphia since 1974. He has been exhibited in one-man shows and group shows throughout the country, as well as abroad in such countries at Honduras, the Bahamas, Italy, Columbia and Ethiopia. He was recently featured in a one-man show, "The Light You Can See," at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman Jewish Life Center in 2016. Mr. Zuchman has also been represented in permanent collections at the U.S. State Department and other locations.

A former artist-in-residence at Brandeis Bardin Institute in California, Mr. Zuchman was also a mentor for the American Jewish Cultural Project and a panelist for the Philadelphia Art Alliance. He has also contributed his expertise as a juror for numerous organizations as well, including the Philadelphia Celebrates the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on Aging and the Governor's School for the Arts in Trenton, New Jersey. He continues to serve as a member of the art-in-embassies program with the U.S. State Department since 1983.

Involved with several professional organizations, Mr. Zuchman is a member and past president of the National Forum of Professional Artists. He is also a past vice president of the Philadelphia chapter of Artist Equity, as well as a past vice president and former executive board member of the Philadelphia Water Color Society. Mr. Zuchman is also a member of the American Association of University Professors, the College Art Association of America and the Americans for Arts.

Mr. Zuchman received a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy at the City University of New York in 1965. He then served two years in the U.S. Army between 1966 and 1968, before acquiring a Master of Arts at Goddard College in 1973. Mr. Zuchman received a scholarship from the Salmagundi Club of Young Artists between 1971 and 1975. He later secured an Artist's Research grant at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont, in 2002 and a Puffin Foundation grant in 2019. Additionally, Mr. Zuchman received an Oil Painting Award from Villanova University in 1983 and a Peter Pauper Press Award in 1963.
